Let’s have a look at some of the positive and negative reviews for this course.

Positive Feedback

  • This course is my first ever serious try to know Philosophy. This course has been a superb opportunity for me to grasp different facets of contemporary Philosophy. I’m curious to understand more now. Thanks. (Sourav D, ★★★★★).
  • I found this class astonishingly enjoyable. This is a remarkably structured start to European philosophy. All modules are well displayed. We are lucky for having such a type of learning at our fingertips (Andrew R, ★★★★★).
  • I wholly enjoyed this course. I find that the course encouragingly sets some directions. It, in fact, raises my excitement for further study into a number of the various fields of philosophy. Thank you (Lemuel T, ★★★★★).
  • Through this course, great explanations are dampened with examples for perception. The quizzes test for your knowledge of the subject instead of just the textbook explanations. I like how this course is challenging and thought revoking (Chan E L C, ★★★★★).
  • I have only a pair of weeks left. This Intro to Philosophy has been enlightening and supplied me with much to contemplate. This was the course I had been desiring to learn from for several years. I have always been interested in philosophy. It would be great if there has been a follow-up course, delving further into these issues. Bravo, and thanks 1,000,000 (David b, ★★★★★).
  • I found the course to be of very top quality in reference to content, breadth, elements, and teaching. Philosophy could be a subject far far away from my previous studies and provided a large inducement to different thought patterns, logic, and ideas. As may be seen, I rate the course and also the MOOC concept very highly as they are hugely enjoyable. It has incited me to follow this up with further studies on this subject. Thanks to The University of Edinburgh and to Coursera accordingly (Richard p, ★★★★★)
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Professors do an amazing job surveying you with the scenery of epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, and logic. I feel like the complex topics are well illustrated with myriad excellent analogies. Moreover, the lectures are enhanced by understandable notes and ample first-rate literature. (Biju A, ★★★★★)

Negative Feedback

  • The course content is incredibly artificial. The passing marks are extremely high for a course I had taken due to a moderate interest. You have got to induce 80% to pass. One unit specifically was very confusing for me. It took me about 7 attempts to cross it as I had no idea what the primary question was about, and there was no guidance on what I used to be doing wrong (Ivan V N, ★★★☆☆).
  • This course is just disappointing. It’s almost an Introduction to the History of Philosophy instead of to Philosophy. We’re asked to be told about the various currents and who said what, instead of considering the topics (Anthony R, ★★☆☆☆).
